    teponâztli:
    1.\TEPONAZTLI tambour à deux tons ou tambour à languettes.
    Esp., cierto palo hueco que tañen y hacen son con el cuando bailan o cantan (M).
    instrumento azteca llamado por los mayas tunkul y los zapotecas tun. Xilofono de dos tonos, asemeja un barril decorado con caras, aves o bestias talladas, tiene una incision que crea dos lenguetas generadoras de tonos. Tiene una abertura en la parte de abajo que se cierra y abre para regular el volumen del sonido emitido. Para tocarlo se usaban dos mazos de Madera con puntas cubiertas de hule, llamadas olmaitl.
